the 16th of February, 1924,

rejecting the proposal for pension

contributions (which would have

avoided the present difficulty)

directed that as charges matured

for the pensions of officers

appointed to Wei-hai-Wei from the

Consular Service the proportion of

them that would be payable from

Wei-hai-Wei funds should after the

retrocession of that territory be

a charge on the Colonial Services
